Sifu Hon Lee

Sifu Hon Lee is co-founder and Director of the Jow Ga Shaolin Institute. He has spent more than 40 years studying, researching and teaching a variety of traditional Asian martial arts. He initially learned Jow Ga Kung Fu in Washington, D.C. under the tutelage of Master Dean Chin and Sifu Hoy K. Lee. He was appointed Chief of Staff when Master Chin established the headquarters for the U.S. Jow Ga Kung Fu Association in Washington D.C. While living and working in Asia many years, he persistently sought out and studied under renowned masters of Kung Fu and Tai Chi in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. For example, in Hong Kong, Sifu Lee had the honor of continuing his Jow Ga training under Grandmaster Chan Man Cheung's personal instruction. He was subsequently accepted as one of only a handful of the Grandmaster's disciples and is a certified instructor for Chan Man Cheung's Chinese Boxing Association. In China he had the rare privilege of learning the Mizong system, as well as Qingping Sword from Lu Jun Hai, Grandmaster of the Mizong system.

Sifu Lee is a 7th-Generation Mizong lineage heir under Grandmaster Lu. During Sifu Lee's lifetime of training, he attained a high level of skill in several other styles, including a black belt from the Shotokan Karate Headquarters in Tokyo. He also studied the Cha style under Master Chen Enyi, a disciple of the late Cha Grandmaster Ma Jinbiao. Cha is the Muslim system of Kung Fu. Of all the styles he has learned, however, Sifu Lee considers the Jow Ga and Shaolin Mizong systems his favorites and uses them as the basis for teaching his own students. Sifu Lee also practices Traditional Chinese Medicine and is CEO of the Sports Edge Acupuncture Clinic, co-located with the Institute.
